Purpose of MSC SCONA
MSC Student Conference on National Affairs provides programs for students across Texas, the nation, and the world to exchange ideas and discuss the role of the United States in the global community.
SCONA is a Conference
For over 65 years, student leaders at Texas A&M University have worked to plan thought-provoking conferences addressing different topics of national importance. These conferences bring delegates from around the nation and world to engage in conversation with the nation’s highest academic scholars, government officials, and well-known public figures. Each conference is composed of a series of keynote speakers, roundtable discussions, and networking events.
SCONA is a Programming Organization
In addition to the annual MSC SCONA conference, the organization plans smaller programs in the fall and spring semesters. We have brought in a cybersecurity expert, the man behind the Free Burma Rangers, and a first-hand account of the Benghazi attack as speakers for these programs.
SCONA is a Committee
The MSC SCONA committee makes all preparations for the annual conference and other small programs. Our organization is composed of collegiate students from a diverse array of experiences. Together we work to develop the program, invite the speakers, raise funds for the conference, and recruit the delegates. This allows our members to develop or refine a new skill set as they prepare to enter their future careers. In addition, we provide our members with a comfortable and productive environment to discuss current issues of national importance.
We’re developing leaders. MSC SCONA is a family.
