The SCONA committee consists of the following subcommittees:
- Communications Team
- Public relations: Members of the Public Relations Committee are responsible for promoting SCONA involvement and programs via social media, and often partners with Internal and External Marketing teams to develop cohesive advertising strategies. PR Committee members will also work to facilitate the designing of T-shirts, graphics, and other materials crucial to SCONA’s marketing efforts throughout the year.
- Internal Marketing: The Internal Marketing Subcommittee is given the opportunity to interact with members from various organizations, colleges, and just day-to-day interaction all over campus. Members of the Internal Marketing committee will market the conference to students all over campus.
- External Marketing: External Marketing plays a vital role in promoting the conference on statewide, national, and global scales. Our team connects with students and faculty from diverse locations, coordinating their participation in SCONA 70. We are responsible for outreach, managing communications, and encouraging schools worldwide to attend the conference.
- Development team
- Development: The Development Subcommittee plays a vital role in ensuring the success and sustainability of MSC SCONA by managing donor relations, fundraising efforts, and the conference banquet. We fundraise through donor contributions and by securing grants. As members, we build and maintain meaningful relationships with our donors, ensuring their continued support and engagement with MSC SCONA. Development is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills who enjoy building relationships and are passionate about making a meaningful contribution to our organization’s future.
- Legacy: The Legacy Committee is responsible for communicating and fostering relationships with SCONA’s alumni community. Maintaining a strong connection between SCONA’s past history and its current developments is essential to building networking bridges between current students and SCONA alumni in relevant job positions.
- Committee Relations: Committee Relations ensures that meetings run smoothly and efficiently while fostering camaraderie within the committee. This subcommittee coordinates guest speakers, plans professional development seminars, and organizes fun ‘family’ dinners and activities. During the conference, CR monitors the green room and provides assistance wherever needed. Before the conference, CR plans recruitment events, manages applications, and organizes interviews.
- Logistics Team
- Research: The Research Subcommittee lays the foundation of the conference by developing and refining each roundtable topic. The subcommittee is also responsible for researching and crafting detailed information briefs, ensuring that delegates have the essential knowledge required to engage meaningfully in their roundtables.
- Operations: Operations plays a crucial role in every aspect of the SCONA conference and organization. Throughout the year, we support all other committees by ensuring they have the resources—such as rooms, equipment, food, and schedules—needed to perform their functions smoothly. Operations also leads the execution of the SCONA conference, overseeing everything from timelines and resource allocation to personnel management. As the backbone of conference logistics, Ops ensures everything runs seamlessly.
- Delegates: The Delegates Subcommittee ensures a positive experience for delegates throughout the conference, from start to finish. Members handle transportation to and from the airport, lodging, and the conference itself. They also organize the delegate experience each year, ensuring all needs are met. This subcommittee selects and trains roundtable hosts, who often shape the overall conference experience for delegates.
- Programming: The Programming Subcommittee is responsible for managing direct interactions with facilitators at our conference. We handle the invitation process, coordinate travel and accommodations, and connect facilitators with the research team. Additionally, we address any special requests or requirements facilitators may have, ensuring they receive full support throughout the event. Our primary goal is to prepare facilitators thoroughly and create a supportive environment that enhances the experience for both students and experts
- USAWC Liaison: The USAWC Liaison Subcommittee oversees all operations regarding the International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise, in addition to working with the U.S. Army War College. These members will work with the the Army War College Fellows at the Bush School, aiding in hosting the ISCNE, and help in performing tasks related to the planning, marketing, and performance of the exercise.
